Former New York Yankees catcher Jorge Posada is expected to join the Miami Marlins as a special advisor to baseball operations, a source told Craig Mish of SiriusXM.

Posada, a five-time World Series champion and a member of New York's vaunted "Core Four," will reportedly join forces with former Yankees teammate and current Marlins CEO Derek Jeter.

Posada won't be in uniform during Marlins camp, but he'll no longer be a guest instructor with the Yankees, at least for now, a source told Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.

Jeter told reporters Monday he wants to see the Marlins improve this season and that the team's success will depend on its young players taking a step forward.

Miami finished 2018 with a 63-98 record - fourth-worst in the majors - and failed to make the postseason for a 15th straight season. The last time the Marlins made the playoffs was in 2003, when they won the World Series.
