The Los Angeles Dodgers are now focused on acquiring All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto from the Miami Marlins after signing free-agent outfielder A.J. Pollock on Thursday, according to USA TODAY's Bob Nightengale.
Trade talks between the two clubs are "intensive" and "ongoing," Nightengale added.
In return for Realmuto, Los Angeles might part ways with top catching prospect Keibert Ruiz, multiple sources told Joe Frisaro of MLB.com. Ruiz is one of the names being discussed and is ranked as the 39th-best prospect by MLB Pipeline.
The acquisition of Realmuto would add to what has already been a busy winter for the Dodgers. The team traded Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp, and Alex Wood to the Cincinnati Reds in December.
Los Angeles also recently traded for veteran catcher Russell Martin after last year's starter, Yasmani Grandal, went to the Milwaukee Brewers in free agency.
Realmuto, 27, slashed .277/.340/.484 with 21 home runs in 2018, as he collected his first Silver Slugger Award and led all catchers in WAR (according to Fangraphs).
