The Atlanta Braves apparently haven't given up their pursuit of J.T. Realmuto, after all.
Atlanta is once again discussing a trade with the Miami Marlins for the All-Star catcher, sources told Craig Mish of SiriusXM, who adds that it appears the Braves are waiting out the Marlins. Mish also suggests the Tampa Bay Rays are a possible suitor.
The Braves reportedly planned to end conversations with Miami after a deal couldn't be worked out during December's winter meetings, a source told MLB.com's Mark Bowman.
Atlanta recently signed veteran catcher Brian McCann to share duties with Tyler Flowers.
Miami has received plenty of interest in Realmuto but has been steadfast in wanting a big haul for the 27-year-old after already trading away Giancarlo Stanton, Christian Yelich, and Marcell Ozuna last offseason.
Realmuto drove in 74 runs, posted an .825 OPS, and accrued the most WAR (4.8) among MLB backstops in 2018, according to Fangraphs.
The Houston Astros, New York Mets, San Diego Padres, and Los Angeles Dodgers have all shown interest in Realmuto at some point throughout the offseason.
