The Pittsburgh Pirates have re-signed infielder Jung Ho Kang to a one-year contract, the team announced Thursday.

The deal is worth $3 million with an extra $2.5 million in performance bonuses, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Pittsburgh paid a $250,000 buyout on Kang's $5.5-million 2019 team option earlier in the offseason. He was Initially signed to a four-year, $11-million contract before the 2015 campaign.

The 31-year-old infielder suited up in three games for the Pirates in 2018. Kang missed all of 2017 due to multiple DUI arrests in South Korea, which led to his U.S. visa being revoked. He was granted a new working visa in April and was reinstated by the team in June before being optioned to Triple-A.

In parts of three seasons with the Pirates, Kang has hit .274/.355/.482 with 36 home runs and 120 RBIs in 232 games.
