The Minnesota Twins announced on Tuesday that they're declining the 2019 club options on pitcher Ervin Santana and first baseman Logan Morrison, according to The Athletic's Dan Hayes.
Both players will become free agents.
Minnesota owned a $14-million option on the 35-year-old Santana, who will receive a $1-million buyout. He only appeared in five games for the Twins in 2018 while dealing with a multitude of finger injuries after making 63 starts for the team during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
In 2017, Santana finished seventh in the American League Cy Young race, posting a 16-8 record with a 3.28 ERA.
Morrison misses out on an $8-million payday in 2019 and will instead receive a $1-million buyout. The Twins signed the 31-year-old prior to the 2018 campaign after he hit a career single-season high 38 home runs for the Tampa Bay Rays the season prior.
He struggled in Minnesota, however, hitting .186/.276/.368 with 15 homers in 95 games.
