Wright was 'pretty close to throwing up' in on-deck circle before 1st AB in 2 years

David Wright was feeling the nerves prior to his first major-league at-bat in over two years on Friday night. So much so, in fact, that he claims he almost vomited in the on-deck circle.

"I really felt butterflies that I have never felt before," Wright told reporters, per Newsday's Tim Healey, postgame. "I think I was pretty close to throwing up on deck."

Numerous injuries, including a spinal stenosis, have kept Wright out of major-league action since May 27, 2016. He grounded out to third base in his only plate appearance Friday.

"I've played in a lot of opening days, I've played in some playoff games, and some World Series games, and I've never felt the type of nervousness that I felt tonight," Wright said.

Wright will get one more crack at it, as he'll start at third base and bat third in what's likely his final MLB game on Saturday against the Miami Marlins.
