New York Mets legend David Wright will be the team's first pinch hitter off the bench for Friday's game, according to MLB.com, and will bat third in what will likely be his final MLB game on Saturday, reports Newsday's Tim Healey.

Wright seemed like a lock for Cooperstown following the first decade of his storied career, but injuries, including spinal stenosis, have taken its toll, limiting him to just 75 games since 2015.

Although the 35-year-old has two years left on his contract, Wright's playing career will likely be over after this final homestand.

Wright owns a career slash line of .296/.376/.491 with 242 home runs and 970 RBIs - all with the Mets.
