Rhys Hoskins has been a centerpiece in the Philadelphia Phillies' turn-around season and is interested in continuing his relationship with the club for the long haul.

After news broke on Tuesday that the 25-year-old recently hired super agent Scott Boras as his representation, Hoskins made it abundantly clear he wants to remain with Philadelphia for life.

"If I have the opportunity to stay in this city and be a part of this organization for my lifetime, I'd want that," Hoskins told Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer. "I love this city. I love this organization. I love the staff that's here. I love the teammates that I have. Obviously, things about that change. But I've really taken to this city. This city is a special place to me. If I ever have the opportunity to be here for my career or long term, I would 100 percent want that."

Hoskins has been impressive during his sophomore campaign in Philadelphia; he hit his 32nd home run of the season in a 4-0 win over the New York Mets on Wednesday.

While he'd certainly be a welcome addition for any team in baseball, the slugger isn't eligible to become a free agent until after the 2023 season. So why did he decide to hire Boras, an agent who has a reputation for finding lucrative free-agent deals for his clients, now?

"It came down to a decision where I felt like Boras' team, the people he has working for him, and himself are going to give me the best chance to be the best baseball player I can be," Hoskins explained. "He has resources on resources on resources, all of which I'm really looking forward to taking advantage of. It really just comes down to me wanting to be the best baseball player I can be."

Since debuting with Philadelphia in August 2017, Hoskins leads the Phillies in home runs (50), is second in RBIs (140), and has been worth 4.8 WAR.
