Twins' Sano carted off field following awkward slide
Minnesota Twins designated hitter Miguel Sano was carted off the field Tuesday against the Houston Astros after an awkward slide into second base.
The Twins later announced the 25-year-old suffered a lower left leg bruise.
"I'm very happy to say he's doing better than I could have imagined," Twins manager Paul Molitor said postgame, per FOX Sports North. "He was in a lot of pain. It radiated down through his ankle, but we got him up here, had him checked out, and it just looks like he has bruising in the leg.
"We're going to ... put him on crutches to keep weight off of it for a day. We're optimistic it might not be too long."
Sano had a permanent titanium rod surgically inserted into his left shin last November.
He entered just his 70th game of the season Tuesday hitting .202/.282/.405 with 13 home runs and 41 RBIs.
