Daniel Murphy may be seen in a new uniform very soon.
The Washington Nationals second baseman was recently claimed off revocable waivers by an unknown team, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, who reports Murphy was claimed before he reached the New York Yankees.
Murphy and Nationals superstar Bryce Harper were recently put on waivers by Washington, sources told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
If Sherman's report is true, the Nationals have 48 hours to negotiate a trade with the claiming club. They could also pull him back off waivers.
The 33-year-old missed the first two months of the season recovering from knee surgery but has performed well after a slow start in June, hitting .300/.341/.442 overall with six home runs and 29 RBIs in 56 games.
He has $4 million left on his contract and is eligible for free agency at the end of the season.
