The Panda's season has come to an early end.

Manager Bruce Bochy said San Francisco Giants infielder Pablo Sandoval will undergo season-ending surgery on his right hamstring, according to Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports.

Sandoval left a game on Sunday after injuring his hamstring during a slide into home plate. He was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right hamstring strain on Monday, but the injury appears to be much worse, with the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman calling it a tear.

Bochy said Sandoval's injury will be "tough to overcome," according to Nightengale.

The 31-year-old was in the midst of a bounce-back season with the Giants, posting a .727 OPS with 40 RBIs while offering the team defensive versatility, playing both first and third base.

Sandoval's season is ending one day after the Giants announced right-hander Johnny Cueto will undergo Tommy John surgery.
