Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera exited Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Twins in the third inning with a left biceps tendon strain and was promptly sent for an MRI, the team announced.

Cabrera, who departed in the middle of his at-bat after injuring his arm on a swing, missed a handful of games earlier this season with a left biceps spasm.

He was replaced by pinch-hitter Niko Goodrum, who then took over at first base.

Cabrera, an 11-time All-Star, came into Tuesday's game hitting .301/.394/.451 (129 OPS+) with three home runs and 11 doubles through 37 contests in 2018. The two-time American League MVP missed nearly four weeks earlier this season with a hamstring strain.
