There isn't a whole lot going well for the New York Mets these days, and on Tuesday general manager Sandy Alderson provided an unfortunate update about right-hander AJ Ramos.
Alderson said the 31-year-old is getting a second opinion to decide between surgery and other options for his injured right shoulder.
"We certainly don't expect him back anytime soon," the GM said, according to The Athletic's Tim Britton.
Ramos felt tightness in his shoulder during an appearance on May 26, when he allowed three earned runs in just 2/3 of an inning in Milwaukee.
He was flown back to New York to undergo an MRI the following day, which revealed rotator cuff tendinitis.
The one-time All-Star and owner of 99 career saves has not been as effective as he was earlier in his career with the Marlins since joining the Mets.
