After a sluggish start to his 2018 season, Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt has heated up in a big way, and the turnaround earned him National League Player of the Week honors, MLB announced Monday.

Minnesota Twins infielder Eduardo Escobar took home the weekly award in the American League.

Goldschmidt slashed a ridiculous .640/.690/1.440 with four homers, 11 RBIs, and 10 runs scored over the past seven days. Eleven of his 16 hits went for extra bases, and he added a pair of consecutive multi-homer games against Colorado on Friday and Saturday.

It's the second time Goldschmidt won the weekly award - he last did so the week of May 3, 2015 - and he's already the third D-Backs player to win it this season, joining Patrick Corbin (April 22) and A.J. Pollock (May 6).

Escobar, meanwhile, raked to the tune of a .462/.500/1.000 slash line with a pair of homers, six doubles, and eight RBIs. He recorded five multi-hit games over the last seven days. It's the 29-year-old's first time winning the weekly honor.
