The Toronto Blue Jays are taking no chances when it comes to the health of the organization's top prospect.

Toronto's Double-A affiliate, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, placed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on the seven-day disabled list Thursday with left knee pain, and the club opted to send him to Dunedin on Friday to be assessed by team doctors, according to Scott Mitchell of TSN. The team is expected to have an update on Guerrero's condition Saturday.

Guerrero departed Wednesday's game after sliding into second base. The Blue Jays initially said that the DL stint was the team being cautious, and it did not believe the injury was "anything serious."

The 19-year-old has been dominating the Eastern League. In 53 games, he's hitting .407/.457/.667 with 11 home runs, 18 doubles, and 55 RBIs.
