Andrew Miller is back on the shelf.
The AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians were dealt a major blow Saturday as Miller was placed on the 10-day disabled list with right knee inflammation, manager Terry Francona said, per Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.
According to Zack Meisel of The Athletic, there is no immediate timetable for Miller's return.
Right-hander Evan Marshall was recalled from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move.
Francona said Saturday that Miller's knee problems have been hampering him all season, according to Bastian.
This isn't the first time Miller has been sidelined by his troublesome right knee. A bout of tendinitis in the same knee forced him to the DL for over a month last summer, causing him to miss a large chunk of Cleveland's 22-game winning streak.
Since returning to action May 11 following a two-week stint on the DL with a hamstring issue, Miller has looked nothing like his All-Star self. Over his six appearances this month, the 33-year-old owns a 14.64 ERA and has as many walks (six) as strikeouts while being tagged with three blown saves. On Friday, Miller was rocked by the Houston Astros, allowing three earned runs in just two-thirds of an inning to cough up the lead and spoil Corey Kluber's gem; Houston would go on to beat the Indians 11-2.
In 14 1/3 innings this year, Miller owns a 4.40 ERA and 1.605 WHIP, his worst marks since moving to the bullpen full time in 2013.
