Report: Tigers receiving trade inquiries about Francisco Liriano
The Detroit Tigers may have a luxurious trade chip on their hands in left-hander Francisco Liriano, who has only increased his trade interest after carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning on Sunday.
The Tigers are getting inquiries from teams with strong interest in the 34-year-old Dominican southpaw, reports Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports.
Liriano has been one of the few highlights for the rebuilding Tigers this season, posting a tidy 3-1 record with a 3.42 ERA in 52 2/3 innings.
While Liriano's walk rate is 4.4 per nine, his ERA+ of 131 is his best mark since 2006, when he was a member of the Minnesota Twins.
The Tigers inked Liriano to a one-year contract in February, which appeared to be a sign they'd look to deal him at the July trade deadline if they could find value.
Detroit is the sixth organization of Liriano's 13-year career, which has included 105 wins, 283 starts, and a 4.12 ERA.
