Yovani Gallardo's stint with the Cincinnati Reds was a short one.
The veteran right-hander was designated for assignment by the team on Tuesday, less than two weeks after the Reds signed him to a one-year deal. His roster spot will be taken by fellow pitcher Tanner Rainey.
Gallardo opened spring training with the Milwaukee Brewers, but was released on Mar. 26 after allowing 12 hits and seven earned runs in 13 1/3 innings.
After signing with Cincinnati, the one-time All-Star made three relief appearances. He allowed eight earned runs in 2 1/3 innings.
Gallardo finished among the top ten in National League Cy Young voting in 2011 when he was with the Brewers, and has 113 big-league wins to his credit. He's also been part of five different organizations since 2014.
