Carlos Gonzalez probably wouldn't mind investing in a time machine.
The outfielder re-signed with the Colorado Rockies on Friday, reportedly accepting a one-year, $8-million contract to return to the team with which he's spent the last nine years.
Gonzalez's contract appears to be a significant bargain for the Rockies, especially considering what they reportedly offered him 12 months ago. It's believed the two sides discussed a deal that could have been worth as much as $45 million over three years, but CarGo opted to bet on himself in hopes of landing a larger payday, a source told Mark Feinsand of MLB.com.
Instead, Gonzalez received limited interest after hitting free agency following a season in which he hit .262/.339/.423 with 14 home runs and 34 doubles across 136 games, including an ugly .203/.274/.332 slash line away from Coors Field.
