Rays trade Odorizzi to Twins for minor-league shortstop
As NBA players showcased their out-of-this-world talent on the West Coast during All-Star weekend, the Tampa Bay Rays were making some headlines of their own in the East.
Less than an hour after acquiring first baseman C.J. Cron from the Los Angeles Angels and designating 2017 All-Star Corey Dickerson for assignment, the Rays traded right-hander Jake Odorizzi to the Minnesota Twins for minor-league shortstop Jermaine Palacios, the teams announced.

Odorizzi joins a Twins team that made the postseason in 2017. He'll pitch atop the club's rotation alongside Jose Berrios and the injured Ervin Santana, who isn't expected to return until sometime between April and May after undergoing finger surgery.
