Report: Morrison turned down 2-year, $20M offer from Indians

Logan Morrison may have already rejected what could turn out to be his best offer of the winter.

The free-agent first baseman reportedly turned down a two-year, $20-million offer from the Cleveland Indians in December, a major-league source told Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe. The Indians then opted to sign Yonder Alonso to a two-year, $16-million deal instead to replace Carlos Santana at first base.

Morrison is coming off the best season of his eight-year career. The 30-year-old hit .246/.353/.516 with 38 home runs, 22 doubles, and 85 RBIs across 149 games with the Tampa Bay Rays. He ranked second in the majors in dingers among first basemen.

The Kansas City Royals and Boston Red Sox are two teams who reportedly have interest in Morrison, though they are said to see him as a fallback option should they fail to land Eric Hosmer and J.D. Martinez, respectively.
