The 2017 season is over after the Houston Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series on Wednesday, and now teams can turn to filling voids for next season.
One particular void exists in New York where the Yankees are without a manager after informing Joe Girardi last week he would not return to the role for next season.
With the Yankees deciding to pursue alternatives, former Yankees utility player and MLB veteran Jerry Hairston Jr. has surfaced as a potential candidate for the managerial vacancy, according to a source of MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.
Hairston Jr. spent a part of the 2009 season with the Yankees, winning a World Series title.
He spent 16 seasons in the big leagues as a player, but has never managed in the majors.
