McCullers: Rangers should be 'ashamed' for not flipping home series with Astros
McCullers and the rest of his Houston Astros teammates are preparing to face the Rangers at the neutral site of Tropicana Field after this week's series - scheduled to be played in Houston - was moved from the Space City to the Tampa Bay Rays' home stadium due to severe flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. Shortly after it was announced the series was being relocated, Astros president Reid Ryan revealed that the games were moved to St. Petersburg in part because the Rangers rejected the Astros' offer to swap dates of their remaining home series with each other.
The 23-year-old McCullers did not think highly of this news. Upon seeing the quotes from his club president about the stadium situation, McCullers took to Twitter and blasted the Rangers for their course of action.
Ryan, who was a Rangers draft pick in his playing days, said Monday that Texas "did not want to trade series with us." Thus, the Astros and Rangers will play in Florida this week instead of Houston, and the in-state rivals' final meeting will take place at Globe Life Park in Arlington as scheduled from Sept. 25-27.
McCullers is not scheduled to pitch against the Rangers in this week's series.
