The Toronto Blue Jays traded right-handed reliever Joe Smith to the Cleveland Indians on Monday for left-hander Thomas Pannone and second baseman Samad Taylor, the clubs announced.

Smith has enjoyed a strong season with the Blue Jays, posting a 3.28 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 51 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings.

The 33-year-old, who was also traded at last year's deadline, previously spent five seasons in Cleveland from 2009-13.

Pannone, 23, posted a 1.96 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 120 strikeouts across 110 innings between Single and Double-A this season.

Taylor, 19, is hitting .300/.328/.467 with four home runs, six doubles, and 24 strikeouts in 28 games with Class-A Mahoning Valley.

Neither Pannone or Taylor were ranked within the Indians' top-30 prospects.
