Which team has spent the most money on its disabled list this season?

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Yet more high-profile players hit the disabled list Thursday, with Kenta Maeda (a day after nearly pitching a complete game, no less), Francisco Liriano, and Trevor Story each set to miss at least 10 days for their respective teams.

So, to date, which team has spent the most money on injured players, and what club has placed the greatest number of players on the disabled list? The answer to both those questions is, perhaps unsurprisingly, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Maeda becomes their 18th player to hit the DL so far, five ahead of the closest team, the Seattle Mariners.

TEAM # OF PLAYERS MONEY SPENT
Dodgers 18 $10.9M
Red Sox 12 $9.8M
Mets 10 $7.9M
Blue Jays 11 $7.6M
Mariners 13 $6.1M
Reds 6 $5.6M
Rangers 12 $5.2M
Angels 11 $5.1M
Giants 9 $4.7M
Tigers 4 $4.4M
Rays 11 $3.7M
Phillies 5 $3.6M
Cardinals 9 $3.2M
White Sox 8 $3.1M
Marlins 7 $2.9M
Orioles 6 $2.9M
Athletics 12 $2.8M
Rockies 11 $2.6M
Braves 8 $1.9M
Twins 5 $1.8M
Brewers 3 $1.7M
Padres 11 $1.4M
Royals 5 $1.3M
Nationals 7 $1.3M
Pirates 4 $1.1M
Astros 5 $1.1M
Yankees 4 $983K
Indians 5 $851K
Diamondbacks 5 $820K
Cubs 3 $707K

While the Dodgers have spent the most on injured players, they've largely done it through the quantity of injuries. Four other players - David Price chief among them - have cost their teams more than any individual Dodger.
