Judge strikes out for 200th time to set dubious rookie record

For all his baseball-pummeling prowess, Aaron Judge still can't seem to stop striking out.

After a first-inning punchout Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays, courtesy of starter Joe Biagini, Judge was sent back to the dugout on strike three for the 200th time this season, setting a new all-time worst mark among rookies.

Chicago Cubs infielder Kris Bryant previously held the record, when he struck out 199 times in the 2015 season. Judge, however, reached the mark in 43 fewer at-bats.

Judge also joins a rare group of five other players who have struck out 200 or more times in one season.

Despite his new record, Judge is still mashing baseballs at a historic pace. The towering Yankees slugger just needs another three home runs this season to match Mark McGwire's rookie record of 49, set in 1987.
