Reds' Austin Brice: Coping with ulnar nerve inflammation
Brice has inflammation in the ulnar nerve in his throwing arm and his been held out of spring training games for most of March, eliminating his chance of making the Reds' Opening Day roster, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Analysis:
An early March outing for Brice had awful results. "I was basically throwing through knives in my elbow trying to get a feel for it," Brice said. "I had no clue where the ball was going." Enquirer writer Zach Buchanan suggests that Brice will begin the season staying behind in Arizona, before getting assigned to a minor-league affiliate.
