Alex Rodriguez officially announced his retirement on Tuesday following 22 major-league seasons.
The 14-time All-Star and three-time American League MVP will go down as one of the most polarizing figures, and greatest players in baseball history.
Rodriguez owns a Hall of Fame-caliber resume, but his 2014 suspension for performance-enhancing drugs will make him a controversial candidate for Cooperstown.

A-Rod leaves the game four homers short of becoming only the fourth player in major-league history to reach 700, and finds himself near the top of almost every statistical category.
