Each and every season, baseball fans mark specific dates in their calendars and line up early for promotional bobbleheads - a staple of stadium giveaways for years.
The year that was certainly provided a fair share of memorable moments, paving the way to some highly collectible - and very unique - bobbleheads. Honoring National Bobblehead Day in the best way possible, here are the top ones from 2016:
Taijuan 'Sky' Walker
Star Wars was a popular theme for bobbleahds in 2016 and the Seattle Mariners made perfect use of it. Former starter Taijuan "Sky" Walker emerged as a popular collectible for baseball and Star Wars fans.
Sale 'K' Counter
Chris Sale's dominance on the mound made turning him into a "K counter" bobblehead an easy decision. The left hander's 941 strikeouts ranks third in baseball since 2013.
Chipper Jones saves Freddie Freeman
This story was worth turning into a bobblehead. In 2014 with Freddie Freeman trapped on the highway in a snow storm, Chipper Jones came to his aid after Freeman used Twitter asking people for help. To make matters better, Jones was wearing full camouflage and picked Freeman up on an ATV.
Astros' Jedi
Keeping up with the Star Wars theme, the Houston Astros made good use of their top players, turning Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve, and Dallas Keuchel into Jedi.
Doolittle Metallica gnome
Sean Doolittle's widely known as a Star Wars nerd and die hard Metallica fan, so it's no surprise the Oakland Athletics decided to run with this bobblehead. The garden gnome theme has been a growing trend in the bobblehead scene for years, especially with the Athletics.
Donaldson MVP award
Josh Donaldson's first Most Valuable Player award was a perfect idea for a bobblehead giveaway, especially with Toronto Blue Jays fans, who lined up for more than two-and-a-half hours to get their hands on the figurine.
Stormtrooper Archer
Chris Archer's signature hair makes this bobblehead stand out, but the fact the Tampa Bay Rays turned him into a stormtrooper was a nice touch.
Espinosa's fu-manchu
Former Washington Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa's epic mustache made waves in 2016. The Nationals created an ideal replica of the stash with a bobblehead and have no shortage of awesome "bobblebeard" opportunities with Jayson Werth on the team as well.
Griffey Jr. back-to-back
Ken Griffey Jr.'s storied career was remembered last season and the timing was perfect. With the Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners playing an inter-league game, both fan bases were able to receive Griffey's bobblehead.
Ichiro hit counter
Ichiro's ability to rack up hits landed him some epic "hit counter" bobbleheads over the years. When Ichiro had a record setting 262 hits in 2004, he was honored with a hit counter bobblehead. The same took place last season when the 43-year-old legend joined the 3,000 hit club.
