Scully's 'Wind Beneath My Wings' cover released as iTunes single
Vin Scully: Legendary broadcaster, devoted family man ... chart-topping singer?
The 88-year-old Los Angeles Dodgers icon may be able to add that to his resume by the end of this week. Scully's cover of Bette Midler's Grammy-winning classic "Wind Beneath My Wings," which he played for the crowd after broadcasting his final game at Dodger Stadium last week, was released on iTunes as a single this past Monday. The four-minute song costs 99 cents to download.
Scully originally recorded the song years ago as a gift for his wife, Sandi. Last Sunday, with Sandi by his side in the booth, he played the recording to thank Dodgers fans and players for being "the wind beneath my wings" during his 67-year career.
Scully will officially retire from broadcasting after calling the Dodgers' regular-season finale on Sunday in San Francisco.
