Gutierrez has broken some blood vessels in his left eye but said he is available for Wednesday's game, the Seattle Times' Ryan Divish reports.
Analysis:Divish said Gutierrez is available "if needed" Wednesday, so it sounds like he is day-to-day. He apparently broke the blood vessels while sneezing, which makes the injury all the more odd. Gutierrez typically only plays against lefties, whom he's abusing to the tune of a .287/.382/.525 slash line in 212 plate appearances this year. The Mariners aren't scheduled to face a lefty again until the final game of the season against Sean Manaea and the A's, so Gutierrez could be held out of the lineup until then.
