Following the tragic death of Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez, who died early Sunday morning in a boating accident, a large number of players, including his fellow Cubans and Marlins teammates, offered their heartfelt thoughts and condolences in memory of the 24-year-old starter.

Fernandez was one of the best young pitchers in baseball, having spent all four seasons with the Marlins. He was a front-runner for the NL Cy Young award after going 16-8 this season with a 2.86 ERA and 235 strikeouts, second best in the league.
