The Arizona Diamondbacks must have been scared off by Hunter Renfroe's minor-league numbers because they didn't let the youngster get an opportunity to do any damage Wednesday night.
Arizona intentionally walked the 24-year-old San Diego Padres outfielder - who ranked as the team's third-best prospect according to MLB Pipeline - during his first big-league at-bat.
Renfroe was the first player to be intentionally walked in his first big-league appearance since Luis Lopez in 2001, according to MLB.com's AJ Cassavell.
Arizona may have been onto something, as Renfroe was tearing up Triple-A El Paso to the tune of a .306/.336/.557 slash line with 30 home runs and 105 RBIs in 133 games before getting called up to the show.
