Adam Jones needs another day, at least.
The Baltimore Orioles center fielder, who left Friday's game after one inning with what was diagnosed as a strained hamstring, will be on the sidelines for Saturday's game against the New York Yankees due to the issue.
Baltimore summoned outfielder Julio Borbon from Double-A as insurance, and he'll get the start at Yankee Stadium in the 31-year-old's place. Jones is listed as active on the bench.
Losing Jones for an extended period would be a massive blow for the Orioles, who are now in third place and two games behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the AL East race. The Orioles are optimistic, however, and believe his absence won't be prolonged.
"It's not a DL thing," manager Buck Showalter told reporters Friday night. "I still think we're in pretty good shape with it."
Jones owns a .275/.316/.456 line with 24 homers this season.
