With Alex Rodriguez set to play his last game as a member of the New York Yankees on Friday, the slugger is set to move into a special advisory role with the club, but he could have work elsewhere as well.
FOX Sports and ESPN are interested in the 41-year-old for a possible television role, according to Michael McCarthy of Sporting News.
Rodriguez appeared FOX as an analyst during the 2015 postseason and left a lasting impression on the company.
"We'd love to have Alex back in some capacity," president of production and executive producer John Entz said in a statement. "Right now, we think it’s only fair to let him focus on what will obviously be an emotional week."
ESPN is also showing interest in the soon-to-be-former Yankees player.
"We're always interested in exploring the possibility with anyone who can make positive contributions to our baseball coverage," ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said in a statement.
A-Rod, who had the composure of a seasoned vet during his broadcasting time with FOX, said being involved in the broadcasts were some of the hardest things he ever had to do.
