Johnny Cueto does this stuff every day with no trouble.

The eccentric San Francisco Giants right-hander always seems to have a different quirky delivery in his pocket. On Friday, it was a little pause followed by a shoulder shimmy. First-base umpire Bill Welke, for reasons known only to him, saw this as a balk and immediately called Cueto on it, allowing the Los Angeles Dodgers to score the game's first run. Manager Bruce Bochy argued the call vociferously, but to no avail.

There's nothing that looked illegal to the naked eye, after all, Cueto didn't get called for anything the last time he pulled out the move. Perhaps it's just been a long time since Welke's umpired a game that Cueto's started. He likely never umpired a game featuring Luis Tiant, either.
