Cancer survivor shows Cubs prosthetic eye with club logo
One young fan isn't letting the effects of cancer dampen his love for the Chicago Cubs.
Beckham Zobrist - a 7-year-old Cubs fan - had his right eye surgically removed following the discovery of retinoblastoma, a malignant tumor on the retina that is almost exclusively found in young children. However, after being taunted by other kids following the loss of his eye, he suggested the perfect solution to his family: a prosthetic eye inscribed with the Cubs' own logo.
Beckham was then able to show off his new eye to the Cubs themselves at Wrigley Field.
"He's my idol, and I look up to him and other kids like him that's gone through what he's gone through and wish him all the best," Cubs bench coach Dave Martinez told Katharin Czink and Dina Bair of WGNtv.com. "I told him he's more than welcome to come back any time he wants."
