Watch: Votto psyches out Phillies fans, keeps foul ball
Joey Votto's not making any friends in the City of Brotherly Love.
After Cesar Hernandez hit a weak foul grounder, the Cincinnati Reds first baseman scooped up the ball and looked to toss it to a lucky fan. Only, he didn't toss it. He waited, waited, waited, then flipped the ball back towards home plate, leaving several Philadelphia Phillies fans angry. Votto seemed to enjoy it, though, and sported a big grin on his face.
"I was just having fun with them," Votto told reporters after the game. "They (Phillies fans) give you a hard time during the game, and that's my way of giving them a hard time back."
Maybe Votto should have been concentrating on his hitting instead of playing mind games with the Philadelphia faithful, as he went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in the Reds' 9-4 win.
