Analysis:Francoeur had made five straight starts in left field, but was just 4-for-20 at the dish over that span, bringing his season average down to .261 after a relatively warm start. He's also 1-for-6 in his career against Sunday's starter, John Lackey, so the timing seemed right for a regular maintenance day.
