Whoa, Nelly!

Nelly Korda won the Chevron Championship by two strokes Sunday to earn her fifth straight victory, tying an LPGA record held by Nancy Lopez (1978) and Annika Sorenstam (2004-05).

It's Korda's second career major title. She previously won the 2021 Women's PGA Championship.

Korda entered the final round down by one but carded a 3-under 69 to pass Hae Ran Ryu and win the tournament.

Place Player Total Round
1 Nelly Korda 🇺🇸 -13 69
2 Maja Stark 🇸🇪 -11 69
T3 Lauren Coughlin 🇺🇸 -10 68
T3 Brooke Henderson 🇨🇦 -10 72
5 Hae Ran Ryu 🇰🇷 -9 74

The win was nearly even more triumphant and dramatic: Korda almost aced the 17th hole in the final round when her tee shot rattled off the flagstick. She ended up settling for par, though.

Among her best shots on the day was a chip-in for birdie on the par-4 10th hole.

Korda, the No. 1 player in the world, netted $1.2 million from the $7.9-million purse for the victory.
