Report: Real Madrid have option to buy Javier Hernandez for €10 million
When it was announced that Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez would be joining Real Madrid on a season-long loan from Manchester United, it was made clear that Carlo Ancelotti's side would have the first buying option on the striker at the end of the loan.
How much would a permanent move cost the reigning European champions?
Well, according to Guillem Balague of Spanish daily AS, Real Madrid have an option to buy Hernandez for €10 million.
Chicharito's contract expires at the end of the 2015-16 season, and Balague claims that Hernandez is "waiting for the call" having told his representatives: "You can't say no." None of this is all that surprising, however, as Hernandez made it clear that he wants to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu in conversation with RNE on Thursday.
"One of my goals is to continue working with Madrid," Chicharito said. "You have to live in the present. I do not know what can happen from here until a month from now."
Despite finding himself on the fringes of Real Madrid's squad, Hernandez has consistently delivered when given the opportunity.
Beyond scoring the goal heard around the world versus crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid on Wednesday - a goal that came in the 88th minute and secured Real Madrid's place in the semifinals of the Champions League - Hernandez has scored in four of the eight matches in which he has started and is scoring at a rate of one goal every 105.5 minutes in La Liga.
