Report: Madrid's Vinicius considering offer to play in Saudi Arabia
Vinicius Junior could be the biggest star yet to ditch Europe for Saudi Arabia.
The Real Madrid winger is considering a lucrative offer to join the Saudi Pro League (SPL) this summer, according to ESPN's Gustavo Hofman and Alex Kirkland.
The 24-year-old has reportedly yet to dismiss the idea of playing in the Middle East after his representatives met with officials and discussed an annual salary of up to €350 million.
Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) also held talks with Real Madrid about potentially signing Vinicius, but the Spanish side prefers to keep him, ESPN adds.
Real Madrid have yet to receive a formal offer for Vinicius, who scored 24 goals in all competitions last season as Real Madrid won La Liga and the Champions League.
It's understood that the PIF, which owns a 75% stake in Saudi Arabia's four biggest clubs, wants to include Vinicius in plans to host the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia and make him an ambassador.
However, a move for Vinicius could prove difficult considering he has a €1-billion release clause in his contract. ESPN's source says Real Madrid would need to accept a bid below the value of the release clause before completing the transfer.
