Seldom-used midfielder Lucas Silva is on his way back to Cruzeiro, as Real Madrid announced Tuesday that the 23-year-old has been loaned to the Brazilian club until June 2018.
The Brazilian joined Los Blancos from Cruzeiro for €14 million in 2015, but after sitting on the bench upon his curious arrival, he spent 2015-16 on loan at Marseille, where he failed to make an impact.
His career looked in danger when a proposed loan to Sporting Lisbon was scuppered due to a heart concern, but despite a full recovery, he was still unable to carve out a place for himself in Zinedine Zidane's squad.
