Just moments after Gianluigi Buffon rolled back the years with another stupendous save, Italy broke up the pitch to cement a 2-0 Round of 16 victory over Spain via the laces of Graziano Pelle.
Monday's clash marked the first true prestigious meeting of the tournament, and the win was congratulated by many in the Twittersphere:

Brilliant from Italy, tactical masterclass from Conte. But Roman Abramovich will still end up sacking him one day...

Totally deserved. Buffon saves at one end, Pelle scores the second at the other. Well played Italy.
