Jozy Altidore could be set for another chance in Europe after drawing the attention of a club in Serie A as well as another in Ligue 1, sources told ESPN FC's Jeff Carlisle.

The 28-year-old has previously represented Villarreal, Xerez, Hull City, Bursaspor, AZ Alkmaar, and Sunderland across the Atlantic. He is now apparently being considered for a transfer to Italy prior to Serie A's Aug. 18 deadline, or to France before business closes at the end of the month.

Altidore's agent, Lyle Yorks, didn't respond to Carlisle's request for comment.

The forward dealt with a long layoff from Toronto FC this season following foot surgery but was on hand to bag a hat-trick against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday to help his side clinch a third straight Canadian Championship. He returned to first-team duty last month, helping spark a much-needed upturn in form for the defending MLS Cup champions.

During his time in Canada, Altidore has been a key figure in securing a previously hapless club five trophies and establishing them as one of the continent's standout sides. He's bagged 56 goals in 107 appearances, shaking off a miserable stint at Sunderland prior to his North American return. His most fruitful period in Europe was for AZ, where he counted 50 goals in 93 domestic outings and won the KNVB Cup in 2013.
