Oscar Piastri: Slow Pit Stop

Rotowire ·

Piastri finished sixth in the Dutch Grand Prix Formula 1 race at the Zandvoort Circuit on Sunday afternoon.

Analysis:

Piastri started the grand prix on hard tyres and would drop a spot on the opening lap to Charles Leclerc as a consequence. However, the early safety car and subsequent red flag would give him another shot at a standing start. This time Piastri would launch well and get around George Russell for P3. McLaren would pit him early in an attempt to cover an undercut by Russell, but the stop would go very slow and derail Piastri's track position. He would struggle from there with pace and fade to a P6 finish in Zandvoort.
