Martin Odegaard is unhappy with his limited minutes at Real Madrid and would like to leave the club, according to ESPN's Rodrigo Faez and Adriana Garcia.

The Norwegian starred in the 2019-20 campaign for Real Sociedad but was recalled midway through the two-year loan agreement to challenge for a regular spot in Zinedine Zidane's midfield. However, he has only logged 121 top-flight minutes since starting in Los Blancos' first two La Liga matches this season.

Odegaard's sporadic appearances for the club have led him to seek ways to avoid stalling his career. Real Madrid are aware of this and are apparently willing to grant the playmaker another loan move before the January transfer window shuts.

Real Sociedad are reportedly monitoring the situation. Odegaard was a consistent source of creativity and energy in the Basque side's midfield last term, scoring four goals and providing six assists.

The club thanked the 22-year-old for "a fantastic, unforgettable year" when he was called back to the Spanish capital last August.

Sources at Real Madrid have speculated whether Zidane lacks patience with Odegaard or if the midfielder's performances simply left him unconvinced in the 2020-21 season, Faez and Garcia report. The player's contract expires in June 2023.
