Lionel Messi is fighting fit after his festive break and overcoming an ankle injury, and he's expected to be involved in Barcelona's trip to bottom-placed Huesca on Sunday.

"Messi is in good shape, he trained on December 30 and 31, even when his teammates had days off, and he's not feeling any discomfort anymore," Koeman said Saturday, according to Reuters.

"He's ready, he's feeling happy and very determined, and that's very important for us."

Messi flew back from Argentina on Tuesday and was immediately in attendance at the Camp Nou when Barcelona drew 1-1 with Eibar.

The 33-year-old has scored seven and assisted once in 14 La Liga appearances, and he's added four goals and three assists in four Champions League outings. His contract in Catalonia expires at the end of the season.
