Chelsea full-back Wallace has returned to his homeland, with the 21-year-old defender joining Brazilian club Gremio on a one-and-a-half-year loan deal that expires at the end of the next campaign.
Wallace, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Fluminense in 2013, was at Serie A minnows Carpi for the first half of the season on loan, but had troubles acclimating himself in Italy, spurring his return to Brazil, Chelsea announced on its website.
The Rio de Janeiro-born versatile defender made only six league appearances for Carpi this season with one start, a 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan in September.
