Watford to make late decision on Heurelho Gomes' fitness

Watford faces a nervy wait on the fitness of goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes for Saturday's showdown with Norwich City, with the Brazilian still recovering from a neck injury sustained at Aston Villa last weekend.

Manager Quique Sanchez Flores was pressed on the status of his shot-stopper Thursday and said that although he's pleased with Gomes' progress, he still remains a doubt for the Vicarage Road clash.

"He is making a good recuperation. I think that maybe today or tomorrow we will have good news from Heurelho, but we need to wait until the last moment for the opinion of the medical staff," he told the club website.

It was a worrying scene at Villa Park when Gomes was withdrawn for Giedrius Arlauskis in the 67th minute, with the 'keeper having to be stretchered off, so it is something of a pleasant surprise that he could be back so soon.
